Few days before wedding, the Chinese bride goes into seclusion with her fast friends, to symbolically mourn over the loss of her friends and family. There is a sweet custom in the Chinese that the groom’s family carries, wedding gifts in red baskets, and boxes to the bride’s house. These baskets are taken by the bride in her room where these are sorted through. Right before three days of wedding the women from the bride’s family reciprocate, bearing gifts include some return wrapped in red to the groom’s family.
